Message I have been increasingly busy traveling with work over the past couple of months, but I worked my butt off to make it drag racing this past Friday night. I know that it was April 1st, but I assure you this is no joke.
I flew from Syracuse, NY to Phoenix, AZ the day of with limited time to prepare. I want to give a HUGE thank you to Alex (bbsalexaz) for working incredibility hard this weekend to help me get ready to run & keep in running. I wouldn't have been able to do it with out you buddy!
My original plan was to run HPDE in the Modified Mag event on Saturday, but when my friends wedding plans changed I had to adjust my priorities. Saturday became filled but freed up Friday night so I was able to get a little track time in.
I have been wanting to run 11.xx pass on stock turbos since I started drag racing a few months ago. Bench racing is worthless IMO, so on my 3rd event I was able to accomplish my goal! To this date I have only run the 1320' about 2 dozen times. I am no veteran drag racer, but I am progressing and learning.
I want to give a big thank you to Dean for always supporting me & being an inspiration. Also to Greg Dupree of SZ of his advise on how to better launch, when to shift, etc., based off of his racing experience & my dyno graph, along with providing a great dyno tune to make the power that I am on my faithful little stockers. Of coarse a thank you to the Project Z32 folks out here in AZ for keeping the love for the Z32.
Since there was the Modified Mag event out @ Firebird raceway Saturday there was talks of some of the fast TA guys running Friday night at the open Drag racing as well. I never saw any of the cars & the attendance was pretty thin. There was a corvette that was running 7.xx IIRC though.
The high was about 97 degrees for the day, but I didn't make it to the track until about 8pm, then we spend about 30 minutes putting in new plugs and the MT drag tires. FIR is a little bit out of the city so by the time I was running it was no where near 97 degrees, but it wasn't 50 degrees either, lol.
Here is a little bit about my setup for the night. My mod list is up to day in my profile & here is a little bit more info on the SZ Blog <[ http://specialtyz.com/blog/?p=441 ]>
-1 degree negitive on front & back (what my DD street setup is)
0 degrees toe front and back.
SPL coilovers set with 1cm of preload on the sprins about 1cm lower than stock shocks.
Mickey Thompson ET Street drag tires on stock TT rears, with 9.5psi tire pressure.
VP Q16 fuel, hitting 21spi max on 100% on my Blitz BC
I was not running the custom IC ducts that I made, I had no ducts on.
I was full weight: Passenger seat was in, Spare tire was in, Wheel chocks & Bottle jack was in. Full AC & Stereo.

I had track officials keeping an eye on me. I'm real close to needing a fire jacket & a roll bar. They told me "if" I go to quick/fast they will give me one warning. I chatted with then a couple times that night & they were good guys looking forward to giving me a warning :)
The officials try to pair cars that are teched to the same ET together. I was teched to 11.5, so I was paired against similar cars. I'm happy to say that I never lost, even though it was not a race. It still feels damn good to run down an American Muscle V8 that left the line a hair sooner than me.

This was my best run of the night/ever:
Car #197
R/T 1.159 (I wasn't worried about cutting a good light)
60' 1.566 (My best ever, thanks for the advise Greg Dupree)
330' 4.878
1/8 7.564
MPH 93.63
1000' 9.818
1/4 11.746 (My quickest ever, Thanks Dean for the videos)
MPH 116.39 (Not my fastest, but it was a warm day)

I enjoined running & I'm looking forward to the next event when ever that may be.
